I finally made the move out west!!! [Mar. 28th, 2008|10:23 am]

Well, March has almost come and gone and Ive made the move to Phoenix and Im loving it here!  I have to admit im a bit homesick at times, but I am making friends and have a few good ones here already along with some family, so Im not completely alone in a strange city, although sometimes it feels like it.  I feel a bit helpless with directions and finding things in this city, as I am used to knowing my way around the detroit area like the back of my hand, being an appraiser and all.  But I will know my way around here very quickly I think. I mean Ive only been here almost 3 weeks now!!

Day 1-The move~!

My dad and I and Sadie and Dugan(my two golden retrievers)set out from detroit on march 9th in hopes of making it to phoenix in three days! Well as we left behind cold detroit, we noticed that the weather was going to be absolutely beautiful so we felt lucky.  I left alot behind when I moved, but decided that one thing I couldnt leave behind was my Waverunners, since they are bought and paid for!!! we stopped for gas several times as the jet skis bogged us down and we ended up getting only about 13 miles to the gallon on the highway...ugh!!!  the first day we ended up driving 16 hours and a total of 1100 miles.  we made it farther than we thought we would.....all the way to Oklahoma City, oklahoma!!! I was hopeful that we were going to make it to phoenix in 2 days!!! woo hoo!!! I was excited!

Day 2- The road trip continues....

Day 2 we set out at about 7 am like day 1 and we encountered excellent weather once again which is unusual because this time of year the middle of the country gets bombarded with snow, freezing rain, rain and some tornados!!!  we had smooth sailing through oklahoma, New Mexico(which seemed to take forever due to the elevation) and then into Arizona!!!  We realized that with picking up extra hours with the time zone change, we could make it to phoenix in 2 days!!! We drove another 16 hours and 1000 miles this time!!! and we rolled into Phoenix at about 9:30 pm local time!!!! I had hoped to make it in 2 days as my poor pooches were forced to lay in a pretty small area in the Trail Blazer due to my things.  I could tell they were getting alittle uncomfortable after a day and a half!!!

Once we rolled into Bouganvilla, my new subdivision, we pulled up to the house that I would be sharing with my good buddy Steve but he wasnt home!!! it turns out he had thought we were going to be getting in later than we did, so he went out to dinner with his friend Ron who was visiting from detroit, so I called him and he rushed home to let us in the house!! what a relief to finally be out of the car!!!

Day 3-Browsing around the city
